Fire and Explosion Hazard

Improper equipment grounding, poor ventilation, open flame or sparks can cause hazardous conditions and result in fire or explosion and serious injury.

• Ground your Graco equipment by using the ground lug and wire provided or through the three-wire plug on electrical equipment. Where appropriate, it is recommended to also ground the object being sprayed. When using electrostatic spray equipment, ground all electrically conductive objects in the spray area.
• Static charges can build up on dispense equipment and guns. If there is any static sparking, stop dispensing immediately and check all ground connections. Do not use the equipment until you have identified and corrected the problem.
• Use only hoses that are electrically conductive and are designed for use with spray equipment and the material being sprayed.
• To avoid the buildup of flammable fumes from solvents or materials, be sure that the dispense area is well-ventilated.
• When spraying or flushing with flammable liquid, be sure to follow the following suggestions:
  • Keep area free of debris, including solvents, rags and gasoline.
  • Do not smoke in the dispense area.
  • Extinguish all open flames or pilot lights in the dispense area.
  • Electrically disconnect all equipment in the dispense area.
  • Do not turn on or off any light switch in the dispense area.
  • Do not operate telephones or other electrical equipment.
  • Tape wall switches to help prevent them from being operated.
  • Do not operate a gasoline engine in the dispense area.
  • Do not use plastic drop cloths in the dispense area.
  • Do not plug in or unplug power cords in the dispense area.
  • If using electrostatic equipment, do not flush system with the gun electrostatics turned on.
  • If using electrostatic equipment, do not turn on the gun electrostatics until all solvent is removed from the system.
