Texas Stadium's Dirty Roof Gets a Whitewash

07/10/2006 - Crews put the finishing touches on the roof of the 65,000-seat, Texas Stadium this past July. While the roof is sound, Irving officials had long complained about its appearance. The city of Irving, which owns the stadium, reached an agreement with Cowboys' management in January on treating the roof. KPOST COMPANY (www.kpostcompany.com), which was awarded the $643,000 project, used two of the new gas hydraulic Graco GH 833 sprayers, over 450 feet of hose and two Mastic guns to cover the stadium roof with two coats, delivering approximately 14,000 gallons of white "elastomeric" coating. "We wanted the roof to look as good as the Cowboys are going to look in the fall," said Steve Little, president of KPOST COMPANY.

The Crew of 12+ workers from KPOST COMPANY, began the large project of renewing the signature roof of Texas Stadium in late April and finished ahead of schedule in July. The Crew worked ten hours a day, five days a week in 90 degrees to over 100 degrees at times, to meet this aggressive deadline. With this demanding time frame of coating the large surface, KPOST chose the Graco gas hydraulic GH 833 "Big Rig" for the job. Pumping up to 4 gallons per minute, the two GH 833 units used were running non-stop. Most importantly, KPOST was able to complete the project ahead of schedule. "The Graco units worked superbly" stated Thomas Williams, Superintendent, KPOST COMPANY. "The Graco pumps delivered the materials without failure".

Dallas Mayor Herbert Gears, who has called the patchwork roof "grandma's quilt," is now acting like a proud papa. "It's beautiful," he said. "It's just a wonderful sight".

Jessie Epperson of Silverado Repair was key in helping to make sure KPOST COMPANY had the right units for the job and helped make this huge undertaking go smoothly and without interruption. Jessie's extensive product knowledge was instrumental in making sure Texas stadium was once again the star of Texas.
