Application:

Moisture block primary cable coating.

Dispensing a hot-applied, butyl-based, inert compound such as Chase BlH2Ock® into a heated coating head where bare cable strands are pulled through during the stranding process. The coating fills the interstices between the wire strands, thus preventing ingress & migration of moisture in the cable. The coating also can facilitate adhesion of moisture swell-able powder applied downstream, which further inhibits moisture penetration. The dispense temperature ranges from 300 to 375°F (149 to 191°C).

Chase & Sons® A162A is a unique, flexible, semi-conducting thermoplastic compound designed as a strand-filling, water-blocking agent for stranded conductor power cables. Pumped into the interstices of the stranded conductor core during the stranding operation, Chase BlH2Ock® is designed to prevent the ingress and longitudinal migration of water within the conductor.
