How to Stop Paint Runs and Fix Paint Coverage Thickness

When paint runs or overall coverage is too thick, generally the problem is caused by too much fluid flow or operator spray technique. Video shows how to eliminate the problem while using an air assist spray gun.

 
  • When paint runs or overall coverage is too thick, generally the problem is caused by too much fluid flow or operator spray technique.
  • Check your tip for proper sizing or wear, and replace if necessary.  
  • To ensure you are getting the proper coverage use a mil build gauge for inspection.
  • If a tip replacement is required, follow the pressure relief procedure outline in your manual.
  1. With the gun trigger lock engaged, remove the retaining ring and air cap.
  2. Remove and replace the tip. 
  3. Reinstall the retaining ring and air cap. 
  4. Tighten the retaining ring firmly by hand to ensure a proper seal.
