Mining company Leighton Asia doesn't fear winter anymore

Application

Leighton Asia, a global mining service company, works on mining sites in Mongolia.  They were using a pneumatic lubrication system installed on their “984 Liebherr Excavator”. Due to harsh working conditions, the installed unit was unable to perform accurately; hence Leighton Asia was unsatisfied with the results. The pneumatic system had failures during the harsh winter conditions due the low temperature (-40°C) during this period.

As they already had a system in place, Leighton was looking for a new set-up which could fit the foot print of the existing one. Reliability, high efficiency, versatility and accurate lubrication were really important for their new choice!
 

Solution

To overcome the main issue, reliability in winter conditions, instead of a pneumatic system, Graco proposed:

Using the opportunity of changing the system, the GLG4400 controller was also installed on the excavator to offer more comfort to the operator and easily manage the automatic lubrication.
 

Results

After few months of operation with the new system, Leighton is entirely satisfied and said “It works great. We don’t fear the arrival of winter anymore!”
