Frequently Asked Questions

This depends on the cabling used. There are standard recommendations that can be found with an internet search. Generally speaking, it’s about 100 meters (328 feet) before hitting a switch/router.

Think of it as a hard drive. The hardware will eventually fail. However, all memory for the system is solid state so the lifetime should be maximised. 10 years is a specification, it is possible nothing would happen at or after 10 years for some devices. It is best practice to occasionally backup the system at key points or intervals.

The IT department needs to ensure ports 80 and 443 are open for the Hub. Ports 80 and 443 are ports generally associated with the internet. Port 443/HTTPS is the HTTP protocol over TLS/SSL. Port 80/HTTP is the World Wide Web. Ports 80 and 443 are generally a given for being open on any type of filtering device allowing traffic outbound on your network. If other PCs can access the internet, the Hub should be able to as well.
