Heavy Equipment Manufacturer Drastically Reduces Downtime and Labour Costs

CHALLENGE: A heavy equipment manufacturer was using classic hot potting and air assisted airless spraying to coat rock crushing equipment. Those methods were becoming time consuming and generating too much waste.

SOLUTION: The manufacturing engineer contacted his local distributor and paint supplier about a solution. They agreed automatic plural component mixing would drastically reduce downtime and labour costs associated with hand mixing. It would also provide ratio assurance and flow control, leading to less over spray and more material savings.

They considered both the Graco ProMix 2KS and the Wagner 2K Smart. In a side-by-side study of the two mixing and dosing systems, it became evident to the company that ProMix 2KS could deliver more ratio assurance and flexibility with colour changes. They also found the 2KS user interface to be user-friendly and, in turn easier, for their employees to pick up.

RESULT: A few months into installation, they are experiencing a drastic reduction in downtime and labour costs. The painters have also found the technology to be very user friendly and intuitive, allowing for a quick transition into production and return on investment.
