Success story: Graco’s Husky 1050e replaces two peristaltic pumps
How our customer saved space and cut maintenance costs by replacing two pumps with one Graco Husky 1050e.
An energy service company that refurbishes catalytic converters for power plants previously used two 29mm peristaltic pumps to move lime slurry at 20% to 30% concentration for each of its two water treatment applications. The company was looking for a solution to use its space more efficiently and decrease maintenance, while maintaining production flow rates.
Challenge: Reduce footprint and maintenance costs
The company’s two peristaltic hose pumps were taking up a large portion of the workspace. In addition, the hoses on the pumps needed to be replaced every two to six weeks, which was backing up production and increasing maintenance and repair costs.
Solution: Husky 1050e EODD pump
By installing one Husky 1050e electric operated double diaphragm (EODD) pump from Graco into its water treatment facility, the energy service company was able to shut down both peristaltic pumps on a line and rely solely on the 1050e for lime slurry supply.
- Small footprint
The Husky 1050e takes up less workspace than one peristaltic pump, let alone two. As a result, our customer gained more valuable workspace for other production needs.
- Excellent flow rates
They were surprised to discover that the Husky 1050e could achieve the same flow rates as the two pumps it replaced, despite its significantly smaller size.
- Sustainable parts
They were also happy to find that the Husky 1050e’s diaphragms, balls, and seats have lasted more than eight months without any issues.
- Easy set-up
The multiple porting options of the aluminium Husky 1050e made it easy to install the pump and get it running right away.
Results: More workspace, less costs
By replacing two pumps with one, this company reduced its upfront costs on equipment and gained more available workspace. It also reduced maintenance and repair costs as a result of the Husky 1050e’s longer life on wear parts. Instead of experiencing downtime every two to six weeks to replace hoses, the company has not had any downtime for pump maintenance in more than eight months.
Overall, the Husky 1050e allowed more space and decreased cost of repairs, with less downtime, easy installation, and greater efficiency.
