On-ratio mixing of two-component silicone compounds to seal electronic displays
Founded in 1989, Nata-Info is located in Yoshkar-Ola city, not far from Kazan, Russia.
The company’s products include a wide range of information displays for stadiums and sports facilities as well as high-resolution displays used to translate public events in cities such as St. Petersburg and Moscow. Nata-Info was looking for a solution to seal their LED video modules, electronic scoreboards and information displays for external and internal usage.
From hand-mixing to automated mixing
Two-component silicone compounds with low VOCs are used for sealing modules. The process of mixing such materials is rather difficult: the uniformity of flow is very important to retain the quality of the material and the jelling time is about 15 minutes. Hand-mixing and dosing were used, but the quality of the final product was poor. The material layers were not uniform and it was not possible to calculate the volume of applied material. Nata-Info decided to switch to an automated mixing application to optimize the sealing process, decrease waste and reduce production costs.
HIGH-QUALITY MATERIAL MIX
The local Graco distributor, Clever Electronics, suggested a Graco PR70 mixing and dosing system with a fixed ratio of material components. It offers an accurate ratio of most mid to low-viscous materials. The most important features of the system are a very high and stable quality of material mix and great control over material consumption.
After installation of the PR70, the employees of Nata-Info reported several advantages in their daily processes: “The dosing system is exact and has a good return on investment calculation. The component ratio is fixed, but it is possible to have an additional set of cylinders to change the ratio quickly. Static mixers offer a high-quality material mix. A HydraCheck module regulates the material flow. The interface is easy to understand and operator friendly. It’s also easy to introduce the material and to clean the system and there is also the possibility to automate dosing processes and to use a robot.”
