Sealed-4-Ball lowers withstand harsh materials
NEW METALLIC BASE COAT LEADS TO NEW CHALLENGES
One of the world’s most innovative automotive manufacturers started using a metallic base coat with a clear coat activated by an ISO catalyst for moisture sensitivity to their paint line. Although these colors provided an excellent finish, the abrasive qualities of the metallic base coat were scoring the pump rods and tearing up packings, causing the paint to leak over the pump and mix room floor.
The pump lower was also exposed to atmospheric moisture, which caused crystallization buildup from the ISO catalyst material. This added to the failing of the pump lowers and caused the motors to cycle faster, creating a run away effect.
GRACO TO THE RESCUE
In order to combat the challenges brought about by these two materials, they decided to upgrade to Graco’s Sealed 4-Ball Lower. This product is built with Ultralife Series ceramic coating to withstand the harshest material. Completely sealed from top to bottom, with added security in the bellows pump, the Sealed 4-Ball is designed to stop all leaking. It also has built in runaway protection that will shut down the pump when there is rapid acceleration.
MAINTENANCE-FREE PUMP LOWER
The Sealed 4-Ball Lower proved to be the answer to their problems. It has been running without any maintenance or performance issues since installation. Confidence in the product is so strong, that they plan to upgrade 18 additional E-Flo legacy motors with the sealed lower in two more paint kitchens over the course of the next year.
