Graco LineLazer scores at Senegal Stadium
This case study shows why contractors prefer Graco line stripers to deliver the highest quality and unmatched performance on parking lots.
The Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio, Senegal is a multi-purpose stadium capable of hosting football, rugby and athletics. It will be the national stadium of the Senegal national football team. The new stadium was built in just 18 months by Turkey’s Summa construction company at a cost of $270 million.
The stadium was officially inaugurated on 22 February 2022 by Senegalese President Macky Sall, in the presence of international dignitaries and a capacity crowd of 50,000. Following the inauguration ceremony, a football match was played between a team of various generations of the Senegal national football team against a selection of African football legends.
Successful as the inauguration was, neither the dignitaries nor the crowd were aware of the final preparations being put in place just days earlier.
A month prior to inauguration, when almost everything else had been completed, one final major job remained. This was to paint the markings on the roads and paths around the stadium, as well as in the underground parking. All these had to be completed in a short timeframe in preparation for the inauguration ceremony.
The company that was called in to perform this job was Sunu Mark and Painting Company (SMP) of Senegal. They brought with them the Graco LineLazer V 250DC HP Automatic. This is a petrol-powered hydraulic airless line striper. It was the perfect choice for this job as it’s designed for easy, fast and efficient operation.
Thanks to its ability to paint dual-color stripes, the LineLazer operates quickly and efficiently. The no-stall design of the hydraulic motors provides uninterrupted performance. Easy push-button control reduces operator fatigue, while two large capacity 55-liter paint hoppers extend striping time.
In short, thanks to the Graco LineLazer and the expertise of the SMP operators, the total area of 2,025 square meters was completely marked with high-quality lines in only 20 days. The LineLazer V 250DC HP Automatic worked alongside two other Graco products: a Graco LineLazer V 3900 Standard Series Gas Airless Line Striper and a GMAX II 3900 ProContractor Series Gas Airless Sprayer. Altogether, eight operators from SMP worked on the project, and 950 kg of paint was used.
The stadium’s opening match ended in a 1-1 draw. But it was the SMP team and their star performer the Graco LineLazer that put in the best performance that week!
