Brewery Improves Beer Packaging Process

One of the fastest growing craft breweries in the Northeast needed to improve efficiency and ensure carton seal quality on its packaging line. Tank-Free technology help them meet those demands.

Getting the Right Seal

Case and Carton Sealing Requirements

To keep up with increasing production demands of more than 121,000 barrels a year, a regional craft brewery needed a new hot melt delivery system at the end of its packaging line. The new case and carton sealing system needed to meet production schedule requirements and ensure carton product quality.

Beer Packaging Challenges

Delivering cases that remained sealed calls for a hot melt delivery system to ensure the correct amount of adhesive application to adequately seal the top and bottom of each carton.

The legacy hot melt delivery system took nearly an hour to heat up, putting pressure on the production schedule. In addition, they were experiencing char, which is by far the biggest problem in any hot melt application system.

Beer Packaging Solution

The InvisiPac Tank-FreeTM Hot Melt System includes revolutionary melter technology specifically designed to improve production efficiency by:

  • stabilizing glue consumption rates
  • reducing both adhesive waste and waste in the form of boxes that need to be repacked or resealed because of an inadequate seal

The Tank-Free system also reduced their downtime and freed up operations personnel for more productive tasks.

Benefitting from Tank-Free Technology

Improved Production Efficiency

The InvisiPac Tank-Free Hot Melt System dramatically improved production efficiency by stabilizing glue consumption rates and reducing adhesive waste while reducing start-up time to under 10 minutes to support 8 a.m. production line starts.

Improved Quality Control

The Invisipac System significantly reduced waste in the form of boxes that need to be repacked or resealed because of an inadequate seal.

Energy Savings

InvisiPac used 20 percent less energy, compared to another hot melt unit. The reduction in energy resulted in a healthier bottom line.

Connecticut-based Two Roads Brewery is one of the fastest growing craft breweries in the Northeast.

Since beginning operations in 2012, Two Roads has increased production to 121,000 barrels a year.

To succeed at this level, production efficiency and consistent sealing application for product quality are critical elements for continued success.
